Factory Operatives – North Uist

[Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk], located about five miles from Lochmaddy on the Island of North Uist, is a seaweed processor that has been drying seaweeds since 2014. This region of Scotland has a long and proud history of harvesting seaweed and creating jobs and economic growth from this renewable marine resource.

The Role:

The [Employer hidden] Production Team is seeking positive and dependable Factory Operatives to support our Production Facility in North Uist. It is a great opportunity for a local candidate who enjoys working with their hands and who would like to gain experience in a manufacturing setting while working with a world-leading organization. As the ideal candidate for this role, you are positive and motivated with an ability to work as a part of a team and deliver on objectives.

Ultimately, the Factory Operative works with the Production Team to ensure efficient running of the process and maintain minimum downtime.

More Specifically the Factory Operative:

  • Monitors equipment
  • Packages (sewing, palletizing, stretch wrapping and storing) all products
  • Completes required documentation (time sheets, PMP, machine run time, change over check list)
  • Completes any lab procedures and documentation that may be assigned by management
  • Cleans work area daily
  • Assists with maintaining and repairing the production equipment
  • Chops and spreads the seaweed as required
  • Completes other job duties as assigned
  • Supports the company’s vision and policies regarding Health & Safety, Corporate Culture, and Environmental Management by displaying the appropriate leadership and behaviours toward meeting the company’s objectives in these areas.

Requirements:

  • High School education or equivalent
  • Experience in operating mobile equipment used onsite (forklifts, telehandler, etc.) would be considered an asset.
  • Ability to lift heavy items; this role will involve repetitive handling of 25kg bags
  • Able to work alone/unsupervised but also effectively as part of a team.
  • A flexible approach to work and is available to work shifts.
  • Punctual

Training provided:

  • Forklift/Telehandler safety orientation and testing as well as a general orientation covering plant safety requirements
  • CPR/First Aid, as required and other applicable safety programs
  • Cross-training across factory job responsibilities
