Lecturer in Cellular Science (Histopathology) -Fixed term until 30th July 2027
Role and responsibilities
- Deliver engaging teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level, with a focus on biomedical science - cellular science (histopathology). - Contribute to the development and delivery of innovative curricula, including laboratory-based teaching and assessment. - Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects and dissertations. - Develop independent and collaborative research, aligned with the division’s research strategy. - Contribute to Continuous Professional Development (CPD) provision and external engagement. - Provide academic and pastoral support to students, acting as a Personal Academic Tutor where appropriate. - Undertake module leadership, curriculum development, and quality assurance responsibilities.
Collaborate with NHS partners, external stakeholders, and professional bodies to enhance research, teaching, and employability outcomes.
Qualifications
- A good first degree in a relevant subject. - A Masters qualification in biomedical science, or a related field. - Membership of a relevant professional body (such as AdvanceHE) or willingness to achieve this within an agreed timescale. - A PhD in a relevant discipline, or willingness to work towards this within an agreed period.
Experience and skills
- Demonstrated expertise to deliver lectures and laboratory teaching in biomedical science (cellular science/ histopathology). - Previous experience of teaching in higher education. - A proven track record of contributing to the development of teaching, learning, or research practice. - Knowledge and understanding of the Human Tissue Act (HTA) and relevant regulatory frameworks. - Experience of working in an NHS laboratory (essential). - HCPC registration (desirable). - Strong organisational, administrative, and IT skills. - The ability to work collaboratively within a team and contribute to cross-disciplinary projects. - Commitment to supporting students both academically and pastorally, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
