About the Company

As a Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will take ownership of the commercial and financial performance across multiple data centre projects. You will lead and develop a team of Quantity Surveyors while working closely with Project Managers, Operations Directors, and senior stakeholders to drive profitability, mitigate risk, and ensure strong commercial governance. This is a senior, strategic leadership role requiring a commercially astute individual capable of delivering high-value, complex projects in a fast-paced data centre environment.

Responsibilities

  • Commercial Leadership & Governance
  • - Report directly to the Head of Commercial
  • - Drive cost control, forecasting, and commercial governance across projects
  • - Provide monthly and ad-hoc financial reporting (revenue, cost, risk, opportunity)
  • - Monitor and report on budget variances, KPIs, and forecasts
  • - Identify, manage, and escalate commercial risks with mitigation strategies
  • - Support internal and external audits
  • Project & Financial Management
  • - Oversee commercial performance across multiple concurrent projects
  • - Lead budgets, forecasts, and cost planning
  • - Review monthly valuations, CVRs, and P&L reporting
  • - Ensure accurate commercial assessment of bids and live projects
  • - Conduct post-project reviews and implement lessons learned
  • Contract & Commercial Management
  • - Lead full contract surveying duties:
  • - Variations
  • - Final accounts
  • - Claims & dispute resolution
  • - Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and notices
  • - Manage commercial risk across UK & EMEA contracts
  • Procurement & Supply Chain
  • - Develop and implement procurement strategies
  • - Manage subcontractor agreements and commercial terms
  • - Approve material and subcontractor orders
  • - Ensure compliance with local laws and regulations across regions
  • - Provide strategic procurement advice
  • Team Leadership & Development
  • - Lead, manage, and mentor a team of Quantity Surveyors

  • - Allocate resources effectively across projects

Qualifications

  • - Degree in Quantity Surveying / Construction Management (preferred)
  • - Experience with:
  • - ERP systems (Eque2 ideal)
  • - SharePoint / Office 365
  • - Relevant industry accreditations / certifications

Required Skills

  • - Proven experience in a Managing QS / Senior Commercial leadership role
  • - Strong background in data centre or mission-critical projects
  • - Demonstrated ability to:

  • - Strong contractual and commercial acumen
  • - Experience managing risk, procurement, and stakeholder relationships
