Location: England – East
This role sits within our Distribution and Connections division. As one of the UK’s largest Independent Connection Providers to support distribution network operations across a diverse range of infrastructure projects.
You will be part of our substation build team, working across 11kV, 33kV, and 132kV distribution networks throughout the East of England.
Job description
As a Commissioning Engineer, you will be responsible for testing and commissioning high-voltage plant and equipment, ensuring safe and efficient integration into the live distribution network and existing protection schemes.
- Produce commissioning plans and associated documentation
- Test and commission high-voltage plant and apparatus
- Provide technical support throughout project delivery
- Attend client meetings and assist in resolving on-site technical issues
- Review and update technical drawings as required
- Ensure compliance with current engineering standards and legislation
- Promote innovation and continuous improvement across projects
- Safely manage site activities and mentor junior team members
What You’ll Bring
- Proven experience in testing and commissioning on HV distribution networks
- Strong understanding of engineering policies, procedures, and relevant legislation
- Sound decision-making skills, with the ability to identify and implement process improvements
- Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Good knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations
- Collaborative approach, with the ability to work effectively with clients, designers, and site teams
- HNC or Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
Additional Requirements
- Full UK driving licence
- Willingness to travel across multiple project sites within the region
