​Location: England – East

This role sits within our Distribution and Connections division. As one of the UK’s largest Independent Connection Providers to support distribution network operations across a diverse range of infrastructure projects.

You will be part of our substation build team, working across 11kV, 33kV, and 132kV distribution networks throughout the East of England.

Job description

As a Commissioning Engineer, you will be responsible for testing and commissioning high-voltage plant and equipment, ensuring safe and efficient integration into the live distribution network and existing protection schemes.

  • Produce commissioning plans and associated documentation
  • Test and commission high-voltage plant and apparatus
  • Provide technical support throughout project delivery
  • Attend client meetings and assist in resolving on-site technical issues
  • Review and update technical drawings as required
  • Ensure compliance with current engineering standards and legislation
  • Promote innovation and continuous improvement across projects
  • Safely manage site activities and mentor junior team members

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven experience in testing and commissioning on HV distribution networks
  • Strong understanding of engineering policies, procedures, and relevant legislation
  • Sound decision-making skills, with the ability to identify and implement process improvements
  • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Good knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations
  • Collaborative approach, with the ability to work effectively with clients, designers, and site teams
  • HNC or Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)

Additional Requirements

  • Full UK driving licence
  • Willingness to travel across multiple project sites within the region
