Job description:
We’re delighted to be recruiting an Accounts Assistant vacancy on behalf of a well‑established organisation based in Market Harborough. This is an excellent opportunity for an Accounts Assistant to take ownership of a varied finance role within a supportive environment, working closely with senior management and external accountants. The role offers exposure to a broad range of accounting responsibilities and would suit someone who enjoys accuracy, structure and responsibility within a standalone finance position.
- Salary: Up to £28,000
- Hours: Full time, 9.00am – 5.30pm (37.5 hours per week, 1 hour lunch)
- Location: Market Harborough (office based)
- Holidays: 20 days holiday plus bank holidays
- Contract: Permanent, full time
Duties and responsibilities:
- Processing purchase and sales ledger transactions, including invoicing, payments and allocations within Sage and Xero
- Completing daily and monthly bank reconciliations across multiple accounts, including Flywire and secondary bank accounts
- Managing supplier payments, refunds, direct debits and standing orders, ensuring accurate posting and allocation
- Supporting payroll processes, including payroll journals, BACS uploads, pension and HMRC payments
- Reconciling credit card and Barclaycard transactions and maintaining supporting documentation
- Assisting with month end and year end processes, including aged debtor and creditor reviews
- Preparing financial records and documentation to support audit and compliance requirements
Required skills and experience:
- Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant or finance assistant role
- AAT Level 3 qualification or equivalent practical experience
- Strong working knowledge of Sage, with Xero experience beneficial
- Proven experience of bank reconciliations and payment processing
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion
- Experience within education, international organisations or payroll processing would be advantageous
