Workshop Technician (Fleet Services) Ref: EE00526

Grade: G8; Salary Range: £39,152 £41,771

Location: Pelsall Road Depot

Hours: 37 per week (annualised hours, including weekends and standby rota)

About the role

An opportunity has arisen within the Clean & Green Service for a Workshop Technician to support the maintenance and repair of the Council’s fleet, plant and equipment.

You will be responsible for ensuring vehicles and machinery are maintained to a high standard, are roadworthy, and comply with all relevant legislation to support frontline service delivery.

Key responsibilities

  • Inspect, service and repair vehicles, plant and equipment
  • Undertake fault diagnostics and MOT testing (where appropriate)
  • Ensure compliance with Operator Licence, MOT and health and safety requirements
  • Attend and support vehicle and equipment breakdowns
  • Maintain accurate records including job cards and inspection sheets
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe and efficient workshop environment

About you

You will have relevant experience in vehicle or plant maintenance, with good diagnostic skills and an understanding of current legislation and safe working practices. You must be able to work both independently and as part of a team, with a flexible approach to duties and working hours.

An MOT Tester qualification and/or HGV licence is desirable.

This post includes participation in a standby/call-out rota and weekend working. Bank holiday working is paid at the appropriate enhanced rate with time off in lieu.
