Location: Scotland, Aberdeenshire to Stirlingshire

This is a hybrid role based at either Maxim Park (Motherwell) or Westhill (Aberdeenshire), with regular travel to current key site locations in Aberdeenshire and Stirlingshire and the flexibility to work from home, supported by [Employer hidden]’s smart working policy.

Purpose of the role

Self-motivated Senior Quantity Surveyor to be part of the Commercial Team delivering one of the largest infrastructure projects in Scotland.

Part of a team undertaking financial management of a major, complex project(s) or a number of projects from inception, tendering, negotiating and agreeing contracts and then commercially delivering Projects often worth many tens of millions of pounds.

Developing and enhancing your skills in commercial awareness, client liaison and project management. Expand your understanding of the construction industry, flexibility and negotiation techniques.

What you'll be doing

  • Manage costs in relation to infrastructure projects with experience of identifying commercial risks and opportunities in respect of their works.
  • Deliver varied commercial duties including responsibility for procuring and managing supply chain.
  • Optimise commercial performance through diligent cost control and value for money opportunities, whilst achieving the required standards and quality for our customers.
  • Create and maintain commercial relationships to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contract administration with both client and subcontractors.
  • Provide support and adherence for the Gated Business Lifecycle processes.
  • Mentor and develop junior members of the team.
  • Proactively drive career and personal development, including professional certification.
  • Commercial management of a large infrastructure project or a portfolio of smaller projects.

Who we're looking for

  • You will have the following qualities/experience:
  • BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or experience equivalent.
  • Membership of RICS, ICES or CIOB (or working towards).
  • Experience with key contracts such as NEC.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Great Teamwork / Role Mode.
  • Leadership skills.
  • Achievement Focus (Achieving Results).
  • Business and Customer Awareness.
  • Applies organisational aims & objectives.
  • Identifies with the customer needs.
  • Recognises opportunities & threats.
  • Experience working on NEC 3 & 4 Contracts.
