British Tree Seeds is looking for a capable, hands-on Tree Seed Collection Manager to operate our tree seed collection activity on a permanent basis. This is a practical, field-led management role for someone who can plan, organise and deliver in time-critical collection windows while maintaining high standards of quality, traceability and compliance.

British Tree Seeds collect, process and supply quality dry and stratified tree seeds to the nursery, forestry and rewilding markets.
As part of our ambitious growth plans, British Tree Seeds is looking for a capable, hands-on Tree Seed Collection Manager to operate our tree seed collection activity on a permanent basis. This is a practical, field-led management role for someone who can plan, organise and deliver in time-critical collection windows while maintaining high standards of quality, traceability and compliance.
Reporting to: British Tree Seeds General Manager Location: UK-wide, field-based
You will help to manage the tree seed collection operation, ensuring delivery against seasonal plans whilst working to a time-critical collection schedule.
- Develop and deliver the annual/seasonal tree seed collection plan (species, locations, timing windows, target volumes).
- Build and manage rotas and day-to-day priorities aligned to crop/collection windows - Lead field operations: collection methods, hygiene, segregation of lots, contamination prevention, storage and transport standards.
- Ensure full traceability and accurate documentation for every collection lot (date, location, species, weights, field notes).
- Manage quality standards and coordinate any testing/acceptance requirements with ATR/BTS.
- Provide clear reporting and proactive communication on progress, constraints and yield changes (weather/access).
- Ensure compliance with relevant legal, land access and health & safety requirements.
- Coordinate vehicles, equipment and logistics; ensure issues are reported and resolved quickly.
- Maintain confidentiality around plans, pricing, suppliers and operational processes.
- Experience in seed collection, forestry/agricultural field operations, or comparable outdoor operational roles.
- Experience in aspects of tree seed cleaning, processing and stratification would be advantageous but not essential.
- Proven ability to plan and manage field work under time pressure and changing conditions.
- Excellent attention to detail (quality + traceability are essential).
- A confident communicator who flags issues early and keeps stakeholders updated.
- Full driving licence.
- A safety-conscious individual, who is reliable and practical
Pay: £25,000.00-£50,000.00 per year depending on experience
Salary will be discussed at the offer stage and will reflect experience.
