Corporate Credit Intern
[Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] is seeking a highly professional and motivated Corporate Credit Intern to assist the Corporate Credit team with various responsibilities, including developing tools for credit portfolio construction, risk quantification, process efficiency, and company analysis. The ideal candidate will be studying towards an undergraduate degree in a numerate or analytical discipline and possess strong Excel skills, a clear interest in finance, and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
Cheyne’s Corporate Credit team is comprised of 13 individuals, managed by Sean Boland. The team has a broad range of responsibilities covering CDS and SRT strategies. This role will assist the broader team with:
- Development of tools for:
- constructing credit portfolios
- quantifying risk and reward in credit portfolios
- improving the efficiency of processes involving large pools of credit
- analysis of companies from a credit perspective
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
The ideal candidate would currently be studying towards an undergraduate in a numerate or analytical discipline (e.g. Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Science or similar) although other undergraduate pathways will be considered. The candidate
Cheyne is looking for a highly professional and motivated intern with a clear interest in Finance. The ideal candidate will be professional, reliable, and have the following qualities:
- Accuracy: Demonstrable high levels of accuracy, attention to detail and analytical ability
- Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- IT: Strong Excel skills required; financial modelling, credit analysis and portfolio construction skills will be developed during the internship. Python highly desirable
- Numerical: confidently able to use at least A-level or equivalent mathematics. Comfortable working with financial and numerical information; prior exposure to financial statements is desirable but not essential
- Motivated: flexible and curious approach, ready to pick up on a variety of tasks and projects as requirements evolve day-to-day with enthusiasm
- Team Player: able to work confidently and productively in a friendly but demanding group
The ideal candidate will have strong academic performance with a clear interest in corporate credit, lending or financial markets. No prior financial services or credit experience required – curiosity, motivation and willingness to learn are key.
