Role Title: Process Operative

Annual Salary: £30,490.25

Working Hours: Double Days shift pattern. Week one 06:00 – 14:00, Week 2 14:00 – 22:00 (with a green, yellow, red period payback. Red Period – 8 hours Monday to Friday, Yellow Period – 8 hours Monday – Thursday and 6 hours on Friday, Green Period – 8 hours Monday – Thursday with Friday payback – off work.)

What will this role achieve?

We are looking for a Process Operative working on the main enrober and premium chocolate line. As a Process Operative your main responsibility is to produce products to a specification and operate machinery.

The role requires a proactive individual with a ‘can do’ attitude who is committed to maintaining high standards in production whilst working as part of a dynamic team. Will be required to move lines across the factory as and when required.

What will be your key deliverables?

  • You will need to work effectively with other team members in the department.
  • Check biscuits before and after coating to ensure correct shape, size, and condition.
  • Monitor chocolate or coating coverage
  • Remove defective or damaged biscuits to maintain quality standards.
  • Start, stop, and run the enrober according to production requirements.
  • Adjust settings such as coating thickness, curtain flow, temperature, and belt speed.
  • Understand equipment and machinery set up
  • Ensure changeovers are completed to procedure
  • Ensure any re-work procedures are followed
  • Ensure product is to correct quality and specification, make adjusts to machinery settings to maintain product consistency
  • Ensure all documentation is filled in correctly and to the right standard
  • Always maintain everyday factory standards safely
  • Carry out metal detection checks as per procedure
  • Carry out all CP (critical control) checks as per procedure
  • Shift handovers are completed in area and to agreed agenda
  • Train peers and new operatives in equipment use and procedures when required
  • Undertake basic problem diagnosis and maintenance
  • Identify and report mechanical issues early

  • Have an understanding of good manufacturing practices and safety at work procedures.
  • Have an interest in Operating Machinery (mechanically minded.)
  • Can work well with others and be open to learning and change.
  • A candidate who remains steady and solution-focused when facing setbacks.

We’re looking for people who can work flexibly and adapt to change. You’ll get support to help you succeed.

Desirable

  • Experience on a production line is desirable however all training will be required.

What does the recruitment process consist of?

  • Assessments – Swift Comprehensive Aptitude and a Workplace English assessment. These should take around 60 minutes to complete.
  • Interview – 45-60 minute competency-based interview based on our company values and your experience.

If you’re an internal member of staff, depending on your current job role, you may not be required to complete all of the assessments.
