Role Title: Tipper / Mixer Operator

Annual Salary: £30,490.25

Working Hours: Double Days shift pattern. Week one 06:00 – 14:00, Week 2 14:00 – 22:00 (with a green, yellow, red period payback. Red Period – 8 hours Monday to Friday, Yellow Period – 8 hours Monday – Thursday and 6 hours on Friday, Green Period – 8 hours Monday – Thursday with Friday payback – off work.)

Location: Canal Street, South Wigston, LE18 4PQ

What will this role achieve?  

As a Tipper / Mixing Operator you will help keep the area safe, tip small ingredients, make mixes and work well with the team. You’ll work with the Advanced Team Members and Team Managers to sort out any problems and help achieve the production plan. You’ll do hands-on tasks and use machines. Being flexible and able to talk with others is important.

Must have a can do attitude and committed to maintaining high standards in a dynamic team. Will move lines across the factory as and when required.

What will be your key deliverables?  

  • You will need to work effectively with other team members in the department.
  • Carry out all pre-start checks on equipment including waste compactor and PLT trucks
  • Tipping small ingredients and making dough to the correct specifications. Ensure enough is available throughout the shift.
  • Ensure that all ingredients are correctly labelled and to correct standard
  • Ensure that all batch codes are correct and batch boards updated
  • Ensure biscuits are made to the correct quality and specification for start of shift and throughout
  • Understand run in times to maximise changeovers
  • Ensure re-work procedure is followed
  • Ensure biscuits are to correct quality and specification. Make adjusts to machinery settings and dough water/ice levels to maintain consistency
  • Responsibility for signing data sheets with correct data. Ensure all documentation is filled in correctly and to the right standard.
  • Always maintain everyday factory standards safely
  • Carry out metal detection checks as per procedure
  • Shift handovers are completed in area and to agreed agenda
  • Complete changeovers according to procedure.
  • Train peers and new operatives in equipment use and procedures when required
  • Undertake basic problem diagnosis and maintenance
  • Communicate directly with relevant person to resolve any issues
  • Lead health and safety standards within the area to ensure all work safely.
  • Take part in tiered meetings and have an active role in the boards as part of Supply Chain Excellence.  

Bring your experience

Essential

  • Have an understanding of good manufacturing practices and safety at work procedures.
  • You must communicate clearly to complete hourly checks and production updates.
  • Can work well with others and be open to learning and change

Desirable  

  • Experience on a production line is desirable however all training will be required.

What does the recruitment process consist of?

  • Assessments – Swift Comprehensive Aptitude and a Workplace English assessment. These should take around 60 minutes to complete.
  • Interview – 45-60 minute competency-based interview based on our company values and your experience.
