This role is ideal for a hands-on, motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working on a variety of tasks that support the success of our projects and operations.
Position Summary:
As a General Operative, you will assist with the day-to-day operations across our facilities, ensuring the smooth running of activities that support our marine engineering projects. This role involves a range of responsibilities, from maintaining workspaces to assisting skilled tradespeople, providing an excellent opportunity for professional growth and development within the marine industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of work areas, including keeping spaces clean and organized.
- Handle materials and equipment required for ongoing projects.
- Safely move and store goods and components as needed.
- Provide support to skilled tradespeople, including welders, engineers, and fabricators.
- Carry out general tasks such as lifting, carrying, and assembling equipment.
- Conduct basic maintenance tasks on tools, equipment, and facilities.
- Report any issues or damage to equipment or workspaces promptly.
- Follow all health and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
- Participate in toolbox talks and risk assessments as required.
- Perform general labour tasks to support the needs of the business.
- Flexibly adapt to new tasks and responsibilities as they arise.
Key Qualifications and Skills:
- Previous experience in a general operative or similar role is beneficial but not essential.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn new skills.
- Physically fit and capable of handling manual labour tasks.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations.
- Forklift license or other relevant certifications are a plus but not required.
