FULL DESCRIPTION

[Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] Ltd is seeking a Power & Distribution (P&D) Project Engineer to work on rail projects. The role involves leading works, coordinating project activities, ensuring compliance with standards, and managing project delivery. The ideal candidate will have experience in rail power and distribution or the utility industry, with strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Your tasks:

  • Work independently and lead works with minimal supervision.
  • Co-ordinate project activities associated for Power & Distribution including the planning of site works, resource, budget and plant (where required).
  • Responsible for preparation of Site Packs, Access/Isolation requirements and Health/Safety Hand back requirements.
  • Delivery of Programme(s) including Construction and EIS, and where applicable Design(s).
  • Ensure compliance with appropriate standards (International, British, Railway)
  • Ensure compliance with Powerlines and Equans policies and procedures
  • Ability to work on multiple projects balancing and managing own time.
  • Assist the Senior PE with undertaking technical reviews of internal and external (sub-contracted) documentation including designs and work package plans to ensure these are integrated, buildable and with a focus on safety.
  • Develop strategies associated with the delivery of project works including assessment of cost, risk and hazards including developing efficiencies where practicable.
  • Attend meetings with clients and subcontractors, developing meeting minutes and action logs as appropriate.
  • Undertake Site Surveys producing detailed site reports.
  • Monitoring of site work activities throughout the construction / commissioning and EIS stages, with a key focus on quality and hand back (GRIP stages).
  • Completion of Safety Site Tours, Close Calls and escalation of key findings (where required).

Your profile:

  • Previous role as a Project Engineer, preferably in Rail Power & Distribution or the Utility Industry.
  • Minimum of 1 to 3 years experience working as a Project Engineer
  • Knowledge of CDM Principles,
  • MS Office Skills
  • Able to recognise the importance of following procedures associated with health, safety and welfare, e.g. Construction (Design and Management) Regulations
  • An organised and methodical approach to tasks,
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team and support as required
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including an ability to problem solve.
  • The ability to stay calm and meet deadlines.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to different locations as and when required with full UK driving licence.
  • Worked on Multi-discipline projects
  • Understanding of Risk Assessments and Risk-Based approach including CDM/CSM and HAZIDs.
  • Decisive and sense of responsibility.
  • Supervision skills

Desirable:

  • Engineering qualification Preferably Electrical (Power) Engineering
  • Knowledge of Utility industry (Distribution and / or Transmission)
  • NR Distribution Level C , B , A
  • Member of a relevant professional body (i.e. IET).
  • EngTech, IEng or CEng.
  • Site Manager Safety Training Scheme (or Site Supervisor) SMSTS
  • Use of software packages including Amtech, AutoCAD, (Bentley) Microstation,
  • Working with Network Rail or another Railway contractor
  • Commissioning experience
