FULL DESCRIPTION

Registered Psychologist

Salary: £38,600 per annum (30 hours per week)
Job Share Option: £19,300 per annum (15 hours per week)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Practitioner Psychologist to join the hospital’s friendly and supportive psychology team, working on the acute service ward at Kneesworth House. The team includes experienced qualified psychologists, trainee and assistant psychologists, art therapists, and a positive behaviour practitioner. Psychologists work closely with colleagues across Psychiatry, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, and Social Work to deliver high-quality, person-centred care.

What you'll be doing

  • Deliver psychological assessments and interventions using evidence-based approaches (e.g., CBT, ACT, DBT, systemic or psychodynamic models) to support clients with a range of emotional, behavioural, or mental health difficulties.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, providing expert psychological input to support holistic care planning, treatment reviews, and risk management.
  • Provide consultation, supervision, and training to colleagues, trainees, and other professionals to promote psychological understanding and practice across the service.
  • Maintain high standards of clinical governance, including accurate and timely record-keeping, adherence to professional and ethical guidelines, and participation in audit, research, and service evaluation.
  • Contribute to service development and innovation, using data and feedback to improve access, outcomes, and patient experience.
  • Engage in continuous professional development (CPD) to maintain HCPC registration and ensure practice reflects current research and policy.

What you'll bring to the role

Candidates must hold a recognised postgraduate qualification in Clinical, Counselling, or Forensic Psychology and be registered with the HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist; newly qualified applicants are welcome. You will work from a trauma-informed, person-centred perspective, using evidence-based interventions to support individuals with complex mental health needs, including severe interpersonal difficulties. Experience with conditions such as depression, anxiety, trauma, psychosis, and personality difficulties is required.

You should be skilled in psychological assessment, formulation, and delivering interventions in both individual and group settings. Desirable experience includes working with psychosis, competence in at least one therapeutic modality, and experience in an acute mental health setting.
