Occupational Therapy Assistant

[Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] Hospital Market Weighton is looking to recruit an occupational therapy assistant to join the team. This is a full time role of 37.5 hours per week. You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients wellbeing. You will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans.

You will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients

The role will be primarily focused around the effective delivery of clinical care and working towards improving standards within the clinical areas of the service. The post holder will be expected to have excellent interpersonal skills when liaising with, external agencies and organisations, patients and relatives. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate genuine commitment and enthusiasm for working with this client groups. The ideal candidate needs excellent organisational capability, effective communication skills, flexibility and a strong “can do” attitude

  • Able to effectively and accurately update clinical records and computerised information systems as directed by the Occupational Therapist in a timely manner.
  • Record and report patient’s involvement in 1:1 and groups. Ensuring any unusual physical, mental or emotional occurrences are promptly referred to senior staff and documented in an appropriate manner.
  • Having compassion for the patients and their situation.
  • Being proactive, enthusiastic and encouraging with staff and patients, encouraging interactions within groups and activities.

What you'll bring to the role

The role requires the holder to have GCSEs or O-Levels (A-C), an NVQ2 qualification, or equivalent relevant experience. Experience or training in autism, DBT skills, and life skills is desirable. The successful candidate will support Occupational Therapy (OT) or Standardized Outcomes and Treatment Assessments (SOTA) in initial assessments and checklists. Additionally, they will be expected to facilitate various groups, including psycho-educational, DBT-informed, goal-setting, and life skills sessions. Although this is an entry-level position, prior experience in a health and social care setting is preferred.
