Shifts: Sunday to Friday, 10:00am – 5:00pm | Saturday, 10:00am – 4:00pm

Pay: £12.71 per hour

Role Overview

[Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] are currently recruiting a reliable and enthusiastic Cafe Assistant to join a busy, customer-focused café within the vibrant Danum Gallery, Library & Museum in Doncaster.

This is a 12-week temporary role with a strong opportunity to become permanent. Successful candidates will be offered a permanent position following the initial period, subject to performance and attendance.

You’ll play a key role in delivering excellent customer service, preparing food and drinks, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and professionalism within a public-facing environment.

Key Responsibilities of a Cafe Assistant

Customer Service

  • Provide a warm, welcoming and professional experience for all customers
  • Operate tills accurately, handling cash and card payments
  • Maintain high standards of personal presentation and hygiene
  • Respond positively and efficiently to customer queries

Food & Beverage Preparation

  • Prepare and serve hot and cold drinks, light meals, and snacks
  • Follow recipes, portion control, and presentation standards
  • Support healthier menu options and maintain allergen awareness

Cleanliness & Safety

  • Maintain cleanliness across café, kitchen, seating, and storage areas
  • Follow food safety, hygiene, and allergen procedures at all times
  • Assist with daily and weekly cleaning schedules and safety checks

Team Support & Development

  • Work collaboratively as part of a small, supportive team
  • Participate in training and development opportunities
  • Support colleagues during busy periods
  • Remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Experience in a café, hospitality, or customer-facing role (or strong transferable skills)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to complete Food Safety training

Desirable

  • Previous food handling experience
  • Knowledge of allergen awareness
