Senior Transport Co-ordinator

Location: Charlton Lane, Midsomer Norton, Radstock Somerset BA34SB

Salary: £36-38k

Job Type: Permanent

Schedule: Hours are either 5.00am - 2.30pm or 7.30 am - 17.00pm. Monday - Friday with Saturday on a rota basis (at least 2 a month).

The Role: You will be working as a team alongside the depot manager and other members of the operational team to keep the drivers and department running smoothly and to optimize efficiency.

Duties will include:

  • Overseeing team of distribution staff members - Performance reviews, appraisals and monitoring of progress
  • Training and development
  • Probationary Review (3-7-11)
  • Rota and Holiday management to achieve efficient requirements
  • Maintain and improve accuracy and productivity in the team
  • Delivery driving when required
  • Moving of vehicles
  • Accurately track and record data to help improve the department and help achieve goals
  • Submitting timesheets and making amendments where necessary

The Ideal Candidate: We are looking for someone who is a highly organised and proactive individual with experience in transport or a logistics operations.

You will have a proven ability to coordinate vehicle movements, help plan efficient delivery schedules, and communicate clearly with drivers, customers and internal teams.

A calm, solutions‑focused approach to problem‑solving is essential, especially when dealing with unexpected delays or operational challenges, comfortable working with data to monitor routes, delivery performance, and compliance requirements with an understanding of driver hours, vehicle safety standards, and general transport duties is desirable.

Above all, the ideal candidate will be reliable, motivated, and committed to ensuring a high‑quality, efficient transport operation that supports the wider aims of the business.

Qualifications Needed: Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) desirable
