FULL DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a proactive and detail‑driven Design Coordinator to join our established Bioresources delivery team. Supporting the successful development of projects to enhance existing and implement new process plants at regional sites, this role offers excellent opportunities to contribute to a varied programme of works across the Bristol, Trowbridge and Dorset areas.

What You'll Do

This is a pivotal role, requiring excellent communication skills, technical understanding, and organisational capability, working with key stakeholders, including planning and operational teams, suppliers, and contractors.

You will work closely with Project Managers to ensure that all design information is appropriately coordinated, technically robust, and delivered to the programme. You will act as the central point for collation, review, and communication of design outputs across multidisciplinary teams - including Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, and Process Engineering - ensuring the seamless progression of projects from concept through to construction.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • coordinating all design phases of wastewater and bioresources engineering schemes in line with NEC contract requirements
  • providing technical support throughout the design process, recommending improvements and playing a supporting role in the management of change and risk
  • managing design reviews, ensuring drawings, calculations, surveys, and models are accurate and aligned with project objectives
  • analysing technical information to support design decisions and implementation strategies
  • managing design deliverables and work packages, ensuring alignment with expectations on safety, quality, programme and cost
  • liaising with multidisciplinary stakeholders, including clients, contractors, framework partners, and internal teams
  • attending site visits and design meetings, capturing actions and reporting on progress
  • ensuring health & safety documentation (CDM, risk assessments, method statements) is complete and maintained throughout the project
  • ensuring compliance with environmental and regulatory standards, including permitting and wastewater treatment design requirements
  • managing governance documentation and presenting updates to senior stakeholders and project sponsors
  • supporting early‑stage feasibility, optioneering, and cost planning for future bioresources programmes.

What you'll need

We're looking for someone who has:

  • experience coordinating engineering design within wastewater treatment, utilities, infrastructure, or a related field
  • a good understanding of NEC or similar contract frameworks
  • strong communication skills and confidence engaging with multidisciplinary technical teams
  • the ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and survey data
  • strong organisational skills with an eye for detail
  • the ability to manage multiple design packages simultaneously
  • competency in digital design tools and document management systems (e.g., AutoCAD, BIM platforms, CDEs).

You'll also ideally have these qualifications:

  • HNC/HND or degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Environmental Engineering or similar.
  • Experience within water, wastewater, or bioresources projects.
  • CSCS card or site access certification.

What you'll receive

  • A combined pension contribution of up to 20%.
  • Career progression and professional development opportunities.
  • 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
  • The opportunity to sell up to five days of holiday every year.
  • The opportunity to buy up to ten days of holiday each year (subject to conditions).
  • A healthcare package that allows you to claim back healthcare costs.
  • Life assurance of up to eight times your salary.
  • The opportunity to lease a new electric car through salary sacrifice (subject to conditions).
  • Cashback and discounts from more than 3,000 retailers.
  • One paid volunteering day each year.
  • Enhanced family leave and pay arrangements.
  • Access to an interactive health and wellbeing platform.
  • Support from trained mental health first aiders.
  • A £1,000 referral fee if you recommend someone who is successfully recruited by us.
