FULL DESCRIPTION

Senior Health and Safety Adviser

We are seeking a self-motivated and dedicated health & safety professional to join our existing Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) team, where you will directly support and work alongside our YTL Construction Arena project team.

What you'll do

You'll be supporting major construction projects, including the Southwest's new Aviva Arena project located at the Brabazon Development near Bristol, working closely with the project teams and contractors to ensure compliance and embed a strong safety culture.

Using data insights, you'll drive continuous improvement through targeted campaigns, supporting senior leadership teams with strategic reporting and planning.

Other duties will include:

  • championing a proactive safety culture, promoting best practices and lessons learned across construction projects
  • overseeing and supporting investigations into incidents and near misses, ensuring robust root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • representing the business during external audits and accreditation processes, ensuring readiness and compliance
  • contributing to award submissions and recognition of safety excellence across projects
  • identifying and monitoring trends and KPIs
  • working collaboratively with other members of the SHEQ team.

What you'll need

We are seeking a charismatic and enthusiastic individual to join our professional Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) team. This role involves leading, mentoring, and further developing the workforce, while promoting positive health & safety culture and behaviours throughout the organisation.

You'll also have:

  • NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent)
  • a comprehensive understanding of current Health and Safety legislation
  • proven experience managing health and safety across major construction projects, ideally including high-hazard environments
  • previous experience of working within a team environment
  • first-hand knowledge of management systems aligned to ISO standards
  • strong understanding of CDM regulations and construction site safety protocols
  • demonstrated an ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels, from site operatives, senior leadership teams, to sub-contractors
  • excellent analytical, reporting, and communication skills, with the ability to develop trends and recommend improvement strategies
  • self-motivation, be organised and capable of managing multiple priorities across a fast-paced, multi-site environment.
