Hydraulic Modeller
Job Type: Full Time
Job summary:
To support the delivery of predominantly wastewater and integrated hydraulic modelling projects under the supervision of senior staff members. The role will include:
- Planning and supervising various surveys
- Managing site visits: walkovers, investigations, observing survey contractors
- Building hydraulic models
- Verification of hydraulic models
- Introduction to project scoping
- Introduction to modelling solutions
- Analysing results using a variety of software packages including excel and
- Generating plans using Mapinfo.
- Report writing,
- Engaging with clients either on the phone and or via email or via attendance at meetings with more senior members of staff
- Supervising and checking the work of more junior members of staff
- Preparing risk assessments
- Assisting in the development of in house training modules
What type of person are we looking for?
The successful person for this role will:
- Hold a relevant degree or other qualification
- Possess a minimum of 3 years practical experience in the wastewater hydraulic modelling field
- With 3+ years experience in using GIS / MapInfo / ICM Infoworks.
- With 2-3 years ICM 1D experience with some 2D experience.
- Be a member of an appropriate professional body such as CIWEM.
- Have a passion for logic and problem and applying it into a technical career with great long-term progression prospects
- Have great communication skills, particularly listening carefully and contributing positively within the team meetings and discussions
- Enjoy working as part of a team on client projects and be willing to support other team members
- Be proactive and able to work on your own initiative
- Be meticulous and pay great care and attention to detail
- Have excellent reasoning and analysis skills, able to communicate numerical and other information clearly and confidently
- Be a competent user of MS Excel and Word and able to pick up new systems quickly
