Job Description

We’re looking for a proactive financial controller to come and join our growing Finance department, leading our newly created finance product control team.

We are now looking for a Financial Controller to join our Finance Team in London. This role is a unique opportunity to have an impact on [Employer hidden]’s mission by ensuring timely and accurate financial data as well as building mature processes and a scalable control environment.

You will be overseeing the month-end closing process, ensuring that related controls have been executed and ultimately signing off on the Product Financial Statements.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Helping to build and lead a team of 4 ‘area’ ([product) controllers across Tallinn and London; assisting with their day-to-day activities, goal setting and supporting their career paths through effective feedback. A successful candidate will travel to Tallinn once every 6 weeks to support the team.
  • Being a key point of contact for senior stakeholders to help understand and explain variances in [Employer hidden]’s balance sheet and Income Statement in relation to underlying changes in [Employer hidden]’s product.
  • Working with analysts to ensure sufficient tooling to help explain period variances and providing commentary on those variances to support monthly group level signoff.
  • Completing documentation to show how our products operate end-to-end through [Employer hidden], including how accounting entries are generated and controlled.
  • Participating in the external audit by replying to external auditors’ questions and information requests.
  • Supporting new product launches / changes by considering the impact to wider finance and working with colleagues in Technical Accounting, General Accounting, Regional Finance and Implementation Managers.

A bit about you:

Significant experience (> 10 years) in either financial controlling, financial audit, financial advisory or management accounting with a working knowledge of IFRS.

Not afraid of challenges and making decisions, can work autonomously and take initiative.

Keen to challenge people and drive changes – can think outside the box and provide long term vision

You are a great communicator. You can adapt your communication style to different audiences. You’re able to persuade others and you aren’t afraid to challenge something when you need to.

Cooperative attitude and ability to manage deadlines

Professional finance qualification such as the ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent.

  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Ability to challenge senior stakeholders
  • Ability to own issue remediation through to completion
  • Financial Qualification (e.g. CFA, CIMA, ACCA or other relevant qualification)
