1. Role Purpose
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic leader to join our finance team as the Regional Prudential Controller for [Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] plc Group.
As the first line-owner of prudential risk the role will provide strategic leadership and expert technical oversight of all prudential matters, acting as the primary point for prudential compliance for [Employer hidden] plc Group.
This individual will not only ensure compliance with all existing and future regulations under the MIFIDPRU regime but will also provide critical forward-looking analysis and strategic advice to the Board and Executive Committee, across a variety of highly important strategic projects including other regulatory regimes globally.
2. Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Advisory
- Lead the prudential workstream for all major strategic projects, including new product launches and global license applications.
- Provide expert advice to the Board, Group ALCO, and other governance committees on the prudential impact of key business decisions, interpreting complex rules on capital and prudential requirements.
- Advise on the evolution of the group's capital allocation framework to support strategic growth and ensure the optimal use of financial resources.
Regulatory Impact Assessment & Change Management
- Partner with second-line risk and finance teams to assess and model the impact of new initiatives on the group's ICARA, including own funds, liquid assets, wind-down plans and stress testing scenarios.
- Provide strategic input into the firm's capital and liquidity forecasting, particularly how planned projects will influence future operating and financial resource needs.
- Assess the regulatory reporting and control implications of new business activities, ensuring new ventures can be seamlessly integrated into our existing frameworks.
Horizon Scanning & Stakeholder Engagement
- Monitor the global regulatory landscape for upcoming changes (e.g., 'Basel 3.1', DORA), analyzing their potential impact on the Group's strategy and business model.
- Monitor the global license and product landscape across the [Employer hidden] Group, collaborating with regional leads to provide regional support and analyze the impact on Group’s strategy and group ICARA.
- Manage and influence a wide range of senior stakeholders across Finance, Risk, Treasury, and business lines to ensure a cohesive and strategic approach to prudential management
Regulatory Reporting & Control:
- Design, implement changes to first-line regulatory reporting and prudential control framework, ensuring robust governance and processes are in place to mitigate reporting and compliance risks.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the regulatory reporting function, leveraging technology and automation to enhance efficiency and control.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management:
- Manage and influence a wide range of senior internal stakeholders, including Senior Directors in Finance, group ALCO members and business line heads, to ensure a cohesive approach to prudential management.
- Provide strong stakeholder management and collaboration across Banking, Finance, Risk and Treasury.
Qualifications
4. Candidate Profile
Essential Experience & Knowledge
- A minimum of 10-15 years of experience in a senior prudential role with a strong focus on strategic analysis, regulatory change, or project-based work within a complex financial institution (investment firm or bank).
- Demonstrable track record of providing strategic input and challenge to the ICARA process, particularly in assessing the impact of significant business changes.
- Deep, technical knowledge of prudential regimes (e.g., MIFIDPRU, CRR), with proven experience applying this knowledge to new products, international expansion, or other strategic projects.
- Significant experience interacting with regulators (e.g., FCA, PRA, NBB) on complex, non-standard queries and strategic initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills
- Educated to degree level. A professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CFA, or FRM is highly desirable.
- Exceptional influencing skills, with the ability to articulate complex regulatory strategy to diverse stakeholders, from engineers to the Board.
- A strong commercial mindset and the ability to bridge the gap between technical regulatory rules and business objectives.
- Proven ability to challenge the status quo and drive improvements in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Unquestionable integrity, sound judgment, and the confidence to advise and guide senior management on prudential risks and strategy.
