Senior Site Manager – Onshore (UK, England)
- North East Yorkshire, UK
- 12-Month Contract

[Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] is partnering with a leading organisation in the energy infrastructure sector to recruit an experienced Senior Site Manager for a major onshore cable installation project in England.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering a large-scale power transmission project, supporting the UK’s transition to a more sustainable energy network.
The Role
As Senior Site Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing on-site construction activities, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient project execution. You will act as a key interface between contractors, stakeholders, and project leadership while driving a strong health & safety culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead site supervision and ensure full compliance with project HSE plans and construction procedures
- Champion a strong safety culture across all site activities
- Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors to avoid interface clashes
- Chair daily and weekly site meetings with stakeholders
- Oversee civil construction activities including trenching, HDD, duct installation, cable installation, and reinstatement
- Ensure all personnel are trained, competent, and equipped for their tasks
- Manage permits, access requirements, and stakeholder coordination (landowners, authorities, etc.)
- Monitor HSE risks and ensure mitigation measures are implemented
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits
- Maintain accurate project documentation and contribute to lessons learned
Key Requirements
- Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Site Manager on major infrastructure, utilities, or energy projects
- Strong experience managing subcontractors and reviewing technical documentation
- Proven track record in permits and stakeholder management
- Experience coordinating multiple contractors on complex worksites
- Strong leadership and commitment to health & safety
Technical Experience
- Civil works supervision (trenching, backfilling, HDD, cable pulling, etc.)
- Experience on power or telecoms cable installation projects is highly desirable
- Familiarity with UK regulations and standards, including:
- Health and Safety at Work Act
- CDM Regulations 2015
- BS 5975 Temporary Works
Certifications
- SMSTS
- CSCS
- CDM Regulations 2015 knowledge
- Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) certification (preferred)
