Senior Engineer (Subsea Controls Systems) - VR/32170

Status: Permanent

Location: Glenrothes, Fife

Rate: Available Upon Request

Currently seeking an experienced Senior Engineer on a permanent staff basis for a company who specialises in the design and manufacture of IWOCS, production control systems and subsea assemblies.

The Senior Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities:

  • Lead engineer and client technical point of contact on new equipment designs / builds, working to client specifications & regulatory standards. Equipment is typically for use in the offshore oil and gas industry.
  • Creating engineering calculation packages to validate designs.
  • Liaising with vendors to select components (pumps / motors / gearboxes etc) for electro-hydraulic & pneumatic systems.
  • Generating concept designs based on client specification.
  • Reviewing and approving fabrication / manufacture / assembly drawings.
  • Leading design reviews with internal and external parties.
  • Generating test procedures and operation manuals for equipment.
  • Mentoring junior team members.

Experience / Qualifications:

  • A degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering (or a similar discipline) would be preferred.
  • Experience in a similar role, directly within the Oil & Gas industry, is essential.
  • Applicants should have practical experience in the testing and commissioning of electro-hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Applicants should have experience in the selection of hydraulic, pneumatic and electric components (pumps, motors, valves, instrumentation etc).
  • Applicants will be expected to have experience with bolted and welded connection designs.
  • Applicants should have experience with rotating equipment design (selecting shafts / bearings / gears).
  • Experience with modelling software is essential. SolidWorks and AutoCAD experience would be preferred.
  • Knowledge of FEA software for stress analysis would be advantageous.
  • Experience with subsea control systems would be preferred.
  • Applicants should have knowledge of ATEX and design of equipment for hazardous area.
