Currently seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer on a permanent staff basis for a downhole technology specialist based in Dyce, Aberdeen.

Reporting to the Principal Engineer, the Senior Design Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities:

  • Managing design projects.
  • Oversight and engineering support for company sales orders.
  • Preparing clear, complete and accurate detail drawings in alignment with department standards.
  • Supporting in the design and review of new products.
  • Performing mathematical analysis at component and assembly level.
  • Performing tolerance studies at assembly level.
  • Designing and supporting test activities to verify designs including hands-on testing participation.
  • Developing product line designs from concept through to finished products in alignment with company and industry standards.
  • Developing test equipment for product validation in accordance with the relevant industry standards.
  • Making engineering cost estimates for development of existing products to create realistic project cost targets.
  • Preparing and presenting engineering design and reviews both internally and externally.
  • Successfully managing projects within projected budgetary and delivery targets to maximise profitability from the company's products.
  • Assisting in the evaluation of product viability.
  • Providing technical support to the organisation to maximise the level of service the organisation can supply to the customer.
  • Providing manual assistance in the process of assembly & testing of new products.
  • Liaising with clients and vendors locally and internationally in the specification of product developments to maximise business opportunities.

Experience / Qualifications:

  • A degree qualification in a relevant Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Product, Electromechanical) would be preferred.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is essential.
  • Previous design engineering experience with oilfield downhole tools is essential.
  • Applicants should have experience with either SolidWorks or Inventor.
  • Experience in performing stress and load calculations is essential.
