FULL DESCRIPTION

Status: Permanent

We are delighted to be partnering with our client, a global service provider based in the city centre, to recruit for an Accountant/Controller. This is a standalone position responsible for the full accounting function. Applicants will ideally be fully qualified or studying towards a professional qualification, but consideration will be given to those qualified by experience.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Registration and payment of all invoices using Accounting systems.
  • Post all bank payments and receipts to system accounting, and reconcile all bank accounts at each month end.
  • Process any credit card transactions after obtaining supporting vouchers and documentation.
  • Prepare quarterly management accounts and annual statutory accounts.
  • Prepare quarterly inter-company admin services invoices and monthly management fee invoices.
  • Assist with quarterly distribution to shareholders by preparing the payments and notification letters to recipients.
  • Control and monitor expense accounts, advance payments and accruals.
  • Operate banking system and responsible for up-keep and maintenance. Prepare all payments for approval.
  • Payroll management regarding four separate payrolls and liaise with external payroll provider.
  • Responsible for dealing with HMRC including submission of VAT returns, preparation of Corporation Tax computations for submission to tax department, and dealing with any queries involving PAYE, VAT and Corporation Tax. Also, provide assistance, as requested by auditor tax department, in their preparation of company tax computation and return.
  • Prepare quarterly reconciliations of supplier ledger and accruals, as required under SOX testing, and supply any transactions documentation requested by auditor or the SOX auditor.

Applicants to this role require

  • Qualified, or part-qualified working toward full qualification.
  • Relevant experience desirable.
  • Good understanding of UK tax legislation, but in-depth knowledge not necessary.
  • Experienced and competent user of Excel, Word, and accounting software.
  • Capable of working independently and systematically.
  • Have a positive and co-operative attitude towards the work.
