Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Web Developer to join our growing development team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining web-based tools and applications, ensuring optimal performance, security, and user experience. This role offers the opportunity to work on real-world, data-driven platforms that involve search systems, filtering functionality, and user-focused interfaces. The successful applicant will play a key role in improving and scaling digital tools that are used by a global audience.

Duties

  • Develop, test, and maintain responsive web applications using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern front-end frameworks.
  • Improve user interfaces (UI) and enhance user experience (UX) through clean and intuitive design.
  • Assist in backend development using technologies such as PHP, Node.js, or similar frameworks.
  • Work with structured datasets, implementing search and filtering functionality.
  • Integrate APIs and develop web services to support application features.
  • Manage and update databases (e.g., MySQL), ensuring efficient data handling and optimisation.
  • Identify bugs and performance issues, and implement effective solutions.
  • Use version control systems such as Git for collaboration and code management.
  • Ensure applications are responsive across devices and optimised for performance and SEO.
  • Collaborate with team members on feature development and improvements.
  • Support deployment and maintenance of web applications.

Requirements

  • Experience in web development with a portfolio of projects (academic or professional).
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of PHP or similar backend language.
  • Familiarity with databases such as MySQL.
  • Understanding of responsive design and performance optimisation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and debug issues effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and clean coding practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and willingness to learn.
