About The Role
Job Title: Security Service Delivery Supervisor Location: Cairnryan Port Reports To: Security Service Delivery Manager Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent Working Pattern: Shift-based, including weekends and nights as required Role Purpose The Security Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of security operations at Cairnryan Port, ensuring all activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with port regulations and the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code. The role provides frontline leadership to the security team, ensuring high standards of service delivery, operational readiness, and regulatory compliance within a busy port environment. Key Responsibilities Operational Supervision • Oversee daily security operations including access control, screening, patrols, and incident response. • Ensure all duties are carried out in accordance with ISPS requirements, port byelaws, and site-specific procedures. • Monitor operational performance and ensure all officers follow assignment instructions and standard operating procedures. • Maintain situational awareness across the port, escalating risks or incidents appropriately. • Ensure accurate completion of logs, reports, and compliance documentation. Team Leadership & People Management • Provide day-to-day supervision, guidance, and support to the security team. • Lead briefings, tasking, and shift handovers to ensure clarity and operational continuity. • Support workforce planning, rostering, and deployment to maintain full coverage. • Coach and mentor officers to maintain high standards of professionalism and performance. • Address performance issues promptly and constructively, escalating where required. Compliance & Standards • Ensure all operations meet ISPS Code requirements and port security standards. • Support internal audits, inspections, and compliance checks. • Maintain audit-ready documentation and ensure officers are trained and competent for their duties. • Ensure all equipment, systems, and checkpoints are operational and reported if defective. Incident & Emergency Response • Act as the first point of escalation for incidents, emergencies, or security breaches. • Lead initial response activities and coordinate with port authorities and emergency services as required. • Ensure accurate incident reporting, investigation support, and follow-up actions. Stakeholder Engagement • Build strong working relationships with port authorities, ferry operators, contractors, and internal teams. • Represent the security function professionally during daily interactions and operational meetings. • Communicate clearly and effectively with officers, management, and external stakeholders. Continuous Improvement • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, safety, and service quality. • Support implementation of new procedures, systems, and change initiatives. • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and high performance within the team. Skills, Experience & Qualifications Essential Criteria • Experience supervising security operations Strong understanding of port security regulations and the ISPS Code. • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage frontline security teams. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks. • Confident decision-maker with the ability to remain calm under pressure. • Ability to work flexibly, including shifts, nights, and weekends. • Right to work in the UK. Desirable Criteria: • Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO) training or equivalent knowledge. • Experience working with port authorities, ferry operators, or maritime agencies or from a regulated transport environment • First Aid, conflict management, or incident command training. • Experience with security technology such as CCTV, access control, and screening equipment.
