Technical Underwriting Manager – 29362
The purpose of this role is to develop, monitor and manage case underwriting capability and policies and procedures to deliver Combined Operating Ratio and financial plans in line with agreed corporate and underwriting strategies and regulatory requirements. Role to operate across commercial, motor and personal lines within a defined cross-regional area.

Overview
Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to) :
- Understand key account performance measures. Implement agreed premium, pricing, cover, risk acceptance and other changes to achieve KPIs, financial and strategic objectives
- Monitor underwriting authorities, standards and processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, good outcomes for customers and the effective and efficient control and management of exposure to risk
- Develop underwriting best practice and ensure this is reflected in all underwriting procedures across regions and accounts Advise
- Support the delivery of audits and the provision of feedback on Regional Underwriting authorities
- Provide technical opinion on policy wordings and the interpretation of endorsements and provide feedback to product development to ensure our products remain market leading
- Deliver one-off activities/projects to the standards and outcomes agreed with line manager
Qualifications required:
- Professional qualification in a relevant technical discipline e.g. Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII) or equivalent highly desirable
Experience required:
- Experienced underwriter with a strong background in motor and/or home insurance
- Experience of delivering KPIs, projects and objectives
- Ideally have experience of leading, managing, supervising or coaching people
- Knowledge of current industry developments and regulatory framework
