This 12-week course gives you a direct path into the growing logistics hubs in Wakefield, Leeds, and Bradford. You'll earn key qualifications and get full support in finding work.

What you'll learn on the Forklift Licence course
This course gives you the technical skills and confidence to start work right away. You’ll earn two important qualifications.
Licence: RTITB Counterbalance or Reach FLT Licence.
Qualification 1: NCFE Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Warehousing and Storage.
Modules
Unit 1: Health and Safety in Warehousing.
Understand responsibilities, risk assessments, and safe working practices to ensure a secure environment for yourself and colleagues.
Unit 2: Handling Goods and Materials.
Learn manual handling techniques, use of mechanical aids, and procedures for receiving, moving, and storing goods efficiently.
Unit 3: Warehouse Operations and Systems.
Develop knowledge of stock control, inventory systems (like WMS), picking and packing processes, and dispatch procedures.
Unit 4: Personal Effectiveness for Work.
Build essential employability skills, including communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and building a positive attitude in the workplace.
Unit 5: Career Planning and CV Development.
Learn how to identify your strengths, search for jobs effectively, create a compelling CV, and prepare for interviews.

Assessment and Technology
You’ll learn through a mix of live online workshops and hands-on practice. Main lessons happen on Zoom and our 24/7 Moodle platform, and you can get in-person support in Leeds, Bradford, and Wakefield. You’ll build your forklift skills and take your assessment at a local RTITB test centre. To pass, you’ll need to complete a knowledge portfolio and the official RTITB practical test.

- Senior FLT Operator, Warehouse Team Leader, Shift Coordinator.

Is this WYCA-funded course right for you?
This course is funded by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority Adult Skills Fund for eligible local residents. To join, you must:
- Live in the West Yorkshire Combined Authority area (Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield, Kirklees, or Calderdale).
- Be aged 19 or over (no upper age limit).
- Have the right to work and study in the UK.
- Commit to the full 12-week programme.
- + Meet one of these:
- Be unemployed and receiving benefits
- Or be economically inactive (such as caring responsibilities or health reasons)
- Or be employed and earning below £25,750 gross per year.
