What you'll learn on the Forklift Licence course
This course provides comprehensive preparation for a career in warehousing. You’ll earn essential, industry-recognised credentials.
Licence: RTITB Counterbalance or Reach FLT Licence (3-year validity). Qualification: NCFE Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Warehousing and Storage.

Unit 01: Introduction to Warehousing and Storage.

Unit 02: Understand How to Receive and Store Goods.
Master receiving procedures, stock control (including WMS and barcoding), and health & safety compliance.
Unit 03: Understand How to Process Orders and Prepare Them for Dispatch.

Unit 04: Understand How to Check Stock and Update Records.
Learn stock-check methods, inventory accuracy, and record maintenance.
Unit 05: Customer Service in Warehousing and Storage.

Assessment and Technology
You’ll learn using a mix of online tools and hands-on practice. Course theory is available anytime on our online Moodle platform, and you can join live Zoom sessions for extra help. You’ll build your practical skills and take your test at a local RTITB centre. To pass, you’ll complete a knowledge portfolio and the official RTITB practical test.

Entry-level roles (starting salary: £24,667-£30,000):
- Counterbalance FLT Operator, Reach Truck Operator, Warehouse Operative in Goole Freeport facilities and Beverley distribution centres.
Mid-level roles (2-5 years experience, typical salary: £26,000-£32,000):
- Senior FLT Operator, Warehouse Team Leader, Shift Coordinator.
Senior roles (5+ years experience, typical salary: £32,000-£60,000+):

This free forklift licence course East Riding is funded by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council Adult Skills Fund for eligible local residents. To join, you must:
- Live in the East Riding of Yorkshire region (excluding Hull).
- Be aged 19 or over (no upper age limit).
- Have the right to work and study in the UK.
- Commit to the full 6-week programme.
- + Meet one of these:
- Be unemployed and receiving benefits
- Or be economically inactive (such as caring responsibilities or health reasons)
- Or be employed and earning below £25,750 gross per year.
