Free Forklift Licence Course

We've partnered with the Department for Education (DfE) through the Adult Skills Fund to deliver free forklift training in Essex for eligible residents across the county, including Thurrock, Southend-on-Sea, Basildon, Chelmsford, and Colchester.

This 12-week programme gives you a direct route into one of the UK's busiest logistics regions. A forklift licence typically costs between £600 and £750 if you pay privately, but for eligible learners, this course is fully funded.

This funded forklift course Thurrock and Essex programme is open to eligible residents across the county, including Chelmsford, Colchester, Basildon, Harlow, Braintree, Thurrock, and Southend-on-Sea. This 12-week programme is delivered 100% online via our Moodle platform, with live Zoom sessions running alongside your study. Attending the Zoom sessions is strongly encouraged and will support your progress, though they are not mandatory. The flexible format typically requires around 15 hours per week.

What you'll learn on the Free Forklift Training in Essex Programme

This course prepares you for a practical career in warehousing and logistics. You’ll build the technical knowledge and workplace skills that employers across FLT training Essex are actively seeking, finishing with two recognised credentials ready for employment.

Qualifications earned: NCFE Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Warehouse and Storage; Counterbalance or Reach Truck FLT Licence.

  • Unit 04: Understand How to Check Stock and Update Records. Learn stock-check methods, inventory accuracy, and record maintenance.
  • Unit 05: Customer Service in Warehousing and Storage. Recognise the importance of customer service in logistics and build effective teamwork skills.

Assessment and Technology

Theory learning is delivered through our Moodle platform, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Live Zoom sessions run alongside your online study and are strongly encouraged to support your progress, though attendance is not mandatory. There are no written exams. You will be assessed through a knowledge portfolio and practical tasks that reflect real warehouse environments. Your FLT practical test and licence assessment will be scheduled at an approved local test centre, with details confirmed at enrolment.
