**1. MANAGEMENT TRAINEE PROGRAMME (Europe Market)**
About the Programme
This programme is tailored for graduates of the **MSc in Shipping, Trade & Finance** (Bayes Business School) and equivalent courses that integrate the worlds of trade, economics, and financial management.
Over 24 months, the Management Trainee will transition from Trade Operations to Trading, developing an understanding of end-to-end commodity flows, logistics, pricing, and financial exposure management.
By the end of the programme, the trainee will be ready to take on an independent Trader role within TORQ’s European trading desk.
Key Responsibilities
***Phase 1: Trade Operations (Months 1–12)***
- Manage day-to-day trade execution and documentation for imports and exports.
- Liaise with counterparties, logistics, and banks to ensure smooth trade settlement.
- Prepare and validate Letters of Credit (LC), shipping instructions, and bills of lading.
- Maintain ERP-based trade records and ensure compliance with European trade regulations.
- Support internal risk and finance teams in tracking trade margins and exposure.
***Phase 2: Trader Development (Months 13–24)***
- Research market trends, freight indices, and global trade flows.
- Support live trading activities, including price discovery, position monitoring, and trade reporting.
- Evaluate trade risks and develop hedging or arbitrage ideas.
- Prepare strategy reports for the Head Trader on market opportunities in Europe.
- Collaborate across teams to integrate sustainability and ESG initiatives into trading.
Eligibility & Qualifications
- **MSc in Shipping, Trade & Finance (Bayes Business School) or equivalent degree in Finance, Economics, International Business, or Trade.**
- Strong academic foundation in **shipping economics, commodity finance, and trade logistics.**
- Proficient in MS Excel and data analysis.
- Prior internship or project experience in commodity trading, shipping, or logistics is desirable.
