FULL DESCRIPTION

Immigration Compliance Administrator

To provide administrative support and maintain records for the University’s Artscom [commercial] Short Courses and Study Abroad immigration compliance and attendance monitoring activities, in accordance with the procedures and regulations of UAL; assessing how changes to the UKVI regulatory framework might impact on these activities; and communicating these to students and colleagues.

Main responsibilities

  • Facilitates the immigration compliance and attendance monitoring processes for the University’s short courses and Study Abroad programmes, including:
  • Checking passports and visas of all international students on Short Courses and Study Abroad programmes to determine that they are legally permitted to study at UAL, and entering data onto the University’s database.
  • Producing Short-term Study Visa letters.
  • Issuing CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) electronic documentation to students wishing to enter the country on a Tier 4 visa.
  • Monitoring attendance of Tier 4 Visa holders, and reporting non-attendance and no-shows to UAL Registry.
  • Compiling and reporting immigration statistics.
  • Supporting Short Courses and Study Abroad colleagues in providing basic advice about applying for visas to students.
  • Advising students on the appropriate steps to take in the event of non compliance.
  • Providing excellent customer service around immigration compliance to Artscom students and colleagues.
  • Assesses how changes to the UKVI regulatory framework might impact on immigration compliance activities, and communicating these to students and colleagues, including:
  • Liaising with UAL’s Compliance Manager to keep up to date with the latest developments and changes to UKVI regulations and jointly assessing the impact on the Short Course and Study Abroad operations.
  • Working with Artscom Systems team to secure CourseManager enhancements to maintain compliance.

Main duties

  • Keeps abreast of UKVI regulations and changes in order to be able to impart current information to colleagues and students.
  • Produces Short-term Study Visa letters.
  • Checks passports and visas of international students on Short Courses and Study Abroad programmes, mostly from the office base, but from time to time in the Colleges.
  • Answers queries and provides accurate information to prospective and current students in relation to immigration checks.
  • Issues CAS electronic documentation to students wishing to enter the country on a Tier 4 visa.
  • Maintains databases relating to immigration checks.
  • Compiles and reports immigration statistics.
  • Monitors attendance of Tier 4 Visa holders, and reports non-attendance and no-shows to UAL Registry.
  • Enrols and maintains student records on QL for Orientation students.
  • Liaises with Short Course and Study Abroad Coordinators to arrange visits to courses, and occasional spot-checks of all students.
  • Meets regularly with Short Courses and Study Abroad colleagues to support them in providing advice to students.
  • Advises students on the appropriate steps to take in the event of non compliance.
  • Meets regularly with UAL’s Compliance Manager for updates on UKVI and UAL strategy, and assess impact.
  • Works with Artscom Systems team to secure CourseManager enhancements to maintain compliance.
  • Works with the Artscom Marketing team to update website and associated marketing materials.
  • Communicates changes to colleagues in the Short Course Units.
  • Makes online stationery orders on behalf of the team.
  • Responds to any relevant correspondence as required.
