The Practitioner in Residence will contribute to the University's mission of integrating internationally excellent practice for UAL students and staff, engaging with colleagues across Knowledge Exchange, Teaching and Research pathways, with a particular emphasis on moving image and screen practices. They will be expected to show academic leadership and connect with the development of University's Knowledge Exchange, Teaching and Research work.
Purpose of Role:
The Practitioner in Residence will contribute to the ongoing mission of the University to integrate internationally excellent practice for UAL students and staff, engaging with colleagues across Knowledge Exchange, Teaching and Research pathways and enriching the curriculum, with a particular emphasis on moving image and screen practices.
The Practitioner in Residence will be expected to show academic leadership and connect with the development of University's Knowledge Exchange, Teaching and Research work. They will have produced internationally excellent practice-based outputs and have a record of developing external collaborations of strategic importance to the University. The postholder will develop their practice within the Research, Knowledge Exchange and Enterprise (RKE) and Teaching aims and remit of UAL.
They will develop and lead teaching, research and KE interventions and projects and significantly contribute to the activities of the University. The post-holder will take a leading role in their field of practice and evidence involvement at a senior level with relevant industry sectors, professional bodies or learned societies. They will contribute to the development of external funding bids and have a record of acquiring significant external funding.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support, develop and integrate the teaching activities of London College of Communication (LCC) and the/University working closely with the Dean of LCC Screen School, LCC’s Associate Dean of Research, appropriate Course Leaders and RKE Centres and College staff.
- To produce outputs that make a significant contribution to the furtherance of knowledge and its application within arts, communication or design. ·
- Contribute to the academic profile of the College/UAL, through attendance and participation at relevant national and international fora, and through participation at College/Centre/University conferences and events; and through membership of industry bodies/editorial boards as appropriate
- Lead the development of external funding applications to research councils, charitable trusts/arts agencies as a Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator.
- To perform such duties consistent with your role as may from time to time be assigned to you anywhere within the University
- To undertake health and safety duties and responsibilities appropriate to the role

- To undertake continuous personal and professional development, and to support it for any staff you manage through effective use of the University's Planning, Review and Appraisal scheme

- To conduct all financial matters associated with the role in accordance with the University's policies and procedures, as laid down in the Financial Regulations

Person Specification
Internationally recognised practitioner with a substantive and sustained record of excellence and innovation which amounts to an outstanding record of achievement in their discipline.
Outstanding reach and impact within and beyond the University.
Specialist Knowledge/Qualifications
Experience and knowledge as a writer/practitioner with international reputation and impact.
Relevant Experience
Experience in producing nationally and internationally recognised practice-based outputs
Significant influence in the development of their discipline.
