Research Assistant

The role

The post holder will work to support the project on activities which include supporting recruitment, data collection and analysis for qualitative and quantitative studies. They will also contribute to research publications and presentations, and help to run Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) groups and other participatory projects.

The role is fixed term to 31 January 2028, and available from 3 August 2026. It is a full-time role, working 37.5 hours per week. However, consideration will be given to part-time working (minimum of 0.6 FTE, 22.5 hours per week).

About the department

The Department of Experimental Psychology is a large, internationally recognised department with a high volume of academic activity and a fast-paced, research-driven culture. The department has recently moved to its new home in The Life and Mind building. This exciting development provides exceptional research and teaching facilities along with space for public engagement and outreach. It also offers renewed commitment to work across disciplinary boundaries to further knowledge across the psychological and biological sciences and to solve major global challenges.

About you

The successful candidate will hold an undergraduate degree in Psychology or a related discipline, together with some relevant experience (e.g. with clinical populations, with children and young people). They will also have experience of undertaking research using qualitative methodology along with specialist knowledge of OCD and related problems, or child and adolescent mental health, or co-production/participatory research to work within established research programmes. Excellent communication and organisation skills with good attention to detail are required, alongside being able to develop good working relationships within a team.
