Assembly Maintenance – Team Leader

The main purpose of the Maintenance Team Leader role is to lead a team of maintenance technicians within the Assembly Maintenance department, to ensure the efficient completion of both planned and reactive maintenance activities.

This includes maintaining and repairing mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems to maximise equipment availability, meet operational targets, and uphold safetyand quality standards. The role also involves managing maintenance projects, conducting risk assessments, and implementing improvement actions to minimise downtime and support overall production efficiency.

Salary: £36,155.04 – £38,163.96

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the maintenance team, including staff and apprentices, conducting regular reviews and providing guidance.
  • Maintenance & Repairs: Oversee and perform mechanical, electrical, and electronic system maintenance and repairs.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure team and site safety, adhering to health and safety standards.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Execute and manage scheduled preventative maintenance to reduce downtime.
  • Breakdown Diagnosis: Diagnose and quickly resolve equipment breakdowns to maintain availability.
  • Documentation: Accurately document all maintenance activities in required systems.
  • Project Management: Lead maintenance projects, report progress, and present updates.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Implement solutions and improvements based on root cause analysis.
  • Resource Management: Manage maintenance tools, equipment, and spare parts.
  • Standards & Organization: Uphold 5S practices for tidiness and organisation.
  • KPI Achievement: Meet maintenance KPIs and support operational goals.
  • Risk Assessments & Best Practices: Conduct risk assessments and implement best practices to enhance maintenance efficiency.
  • To ensure that all work is completed in line with company policies and procedures
  • Any other duties as requested to assist in the effective management of the department

Safety, Health and Environment:

  • To ensure that all safety, health and environmental policies and procedures are followed to provide a safe working environment.
  • To advise management of any safety, health or environmental concerns immediately and, where possible, will take action to reduce the risk of harm.
  • Carry out risk assessments and orchestrate improvement activities to achieve the company KPI’s
  • Develop 5’s strategy, maintain and introduce health, safety and environmental standards.

Essential Skills / Experience /Qualifications:

  • Qualifications: A-Levels, ONC, City & Guilds Level 3, B-Tech National Diploma Level 3, NVQ Level 3 (maintenance technicianpathway). Level 3 Leadership & Management or willingness to work towards.
  • Technical Expertise: Extensive experience in mechanical, electrical, and electronic system maintenance.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop a multi-skilled team.
  • Programming Skills: Robot (Fanuc) and PLC (Omron) programming Proficiency.
  • Problem-solving: Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities, with experience in root cause analysis.
  • Project Management: Experience managing maintenance projects and delivering results on time.
  • Safety & Compliance: Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations, including conducting risk assessments.
  • Communication: Effective communication skills for reporting and collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
  • Organisational Skills: Managing resources, prioritising tasks, and maintaining an organised work environment.
