Senior Automation Design Engineer

[Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] seeks an experienced Senior Automation Design Engineer to develop and specify smoke ventilation control systems. The role involves electrical wiring design, PLC & HMI programming, control system design, and occasional site visits. Candidates should be innovative, organized, and possess a relevant engineering background.

Key Responsibilities

  • Electrical wiring design and programming
  • PLC & HMI programming; Industry standard Ladder Programming (LD). Industrial communication protocols
  • TCP/IP & Modbus. HMI animated graphical representation programming
  • Occasional site visits for commissioning
  • Control panel testing and electrical fault finding for bespoke projects
  • Providing remote support for Commissioning Engineers through TeamViewer
  • Compiling items lists (using Microsoft Excel)
  • Control system design (electrical circuit design & calculations)
  • AutoCAD LT drafting (mechanical, equipment layout, circuit diagrams, drawing standards & document control)

Candidate Requirements

  • You must be innovative and have a proven track record of the design and development of machinery automation projects
  • You must be organised and methodical
  • Able to work as a team player as well as alone
  • Must be a good communicator at all levels
  • Previous experience with Schneider PLCs, HMIs and VSDs would be helpful but not essential
