FULL DESCRIPTION
Apprentice CAD Technician – Level 4/5
This is an opportunity to work alongside the Senior Design Engineer within a specialist and busy Design Office where you will gain training on how to produce new and update existing drawings for some of the UK’s largest construction projects as a specialist sub-contractor in smoke ventilation. This role will provide full industry training, with an opportunity for future progression within the design team as the company continues to grow.
Salary and Hours:
- £346 - £403 per week, depending upon age and previous experience - 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, Permanent
We will teach you how to:
- Understand design requirements and create detailed technical drawings, electrical schematics and layout plans that meet the high standards expected of our clients.
- Liaise with estimating and project teams to ensure designs are within budget
- Amend drawings and highlight anything that will increase costs
- Develop working drawings for use during Project Tender and Quotation.
- Produce installation and manufacturing drawings.
- Ensure drawings supplied are accurate, detailed and meet Industry Standards.
- Maintain accurate records in accordance with Design Office procedures.

You need to have:
- Industrial experience or work placement in a similar field as described above would be an advantage but not required.
- A levels or BTEC level 3 qualification or a level 3 Apprenticeship.
- Proficient in Auto CAD 2D.
- Able to interpret and understand Engineering Drawings and electrical schematics.
- Methodical worker with a high attention to detail.
- Flexible with good communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and manage own workload ensuring that deadlines are met.
- Ability to work as part of a small team and well as on your own.
- Proficient in Windows 10 and Microsoft office products (Excel, Word, Outlook).
