Job Introduction

Are you ready for a new strategic challenge in the world of Local Government Treasury Management and Pensions?

We're looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join its Treasury Management and Pension Fund Department. This will be to play an integral role both in delivering effective treasury management services for the County Council and it’s partner organisations, and in the management of the assets of the Staffordshire Pension Fund.

The Treasury and Pension Fund Department is lead commissioner for the Pension Fund and provides the County Council and local partner organisations with a risk managed treasury management service. This service includes operational tasks, for treasury and pensions, performed on a regular basis and input into focused plans influencing service directions.

Main Responsibility

Working in the Treasury and Pension Fund Department, you will support the Senior Investment Accountant in delivering the day-to-day management of County Council and partner organisation, investment and borrowing decisions and assist in the management and oversight of the Pension Fund’s investments.

This will include:

  • Daily treasury dealing for [Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk], Staffordshire Pension Fund, Staffordshire Police and Staffordshire Fire.
  • Control of the Treasury and Pension team Business Continuity Plan and Risk Register.
  • Production of annual strategies for Pensions Committee sign off in relation to specific areas of investment activity and governance.
  • Liaise with internal and external partners to ensure delivery of a number of key services within the pension fund.
  • Attend service specific Panels with senior officers to provide briefings and feedback.
  • Preparation of monitoring and performance information for internal and external consumption.

The Ideal Candidate

You will be highly self-motivated and have experience of working in a busy and ambitious financial environment. You'll also:

  • Have experience of using a large financial system.
  • be highly numerate, accurate and logical.
  • have excellent interpersonal skills, as you will be required to liaise with a wide range of people, both inside and outside the organisation, including banks, advisers and brokers.
  • have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Have the ability to learn quickly and work flexibly within a professional team.
