Ibraheem Dhoodhat – Apprentice Stories

#### Ibraheem completed a Sports Coach Apprenticeship at The Olive School, Hackney. We asked him to tell us more about his apprenticeship journey and how he has gained skills for life.

#### Why did you decide to commence an apprenticeship?

“It was an ideal opportunity for me to enter my preferred field of work without prior qualifications. In addition to achieving a relevant qualification, I gained valuable knowledge and experience whilst developing in my role.”

#### What kind of support did you receive from your tutor and colleagues?

“My tutor was extremely knowledgeable and supportive and provided personalised support around the clock. My mentor and colleagues played a key part in making me comfortable in my role and helping me to manage my workload so that I never felt under pressure.”

“[Employer hidden] supported me with additional CPD opportunities and created a positive working environment. Star also provided me with useful teaching frameworks which I now utilise in my coaching role.”

#### What impact did your apprenticeship training have on your current job role/career?

“The apprenticeship has allowed me to gain a vital qualification and further experience in my preferred field. It has helped me to get my foot through the door to kickstart my career in education. I feel like I have grown substantially in confidence and competence in the coaching industry.”

#### What advice would you give to someone who’s considering an apprenticeship?

“Apprenticeships are a great way to begin your journey in any field, with opportunities to gain real-life experience and professional development. It’s a great way to achieve a qualification with the ability to immediately apply the theory to the practical skills.”
