#### What factors influenced your decision to begin an apprenticeship?
“After completing my Level 5 CIPD, I wanted to develop my strategic HR knowledge to better support my role within the trust and decided that I wanted to progress to Level 7. The apprenticeship route felt like the most practical and rewarding option, as it allowed me to directly apply my learning in the workplace and develop my skills in a purposeful, hands-on way, without relying solely on another exam-based qualification.”
#### What kind of support do you receive from your tutor and colleagues?
“I’ve been fortunate to have two colleagues completing the same apprenticeship, who have been incredibly supportive and helpful in sharing tips on managing time and workload effectively. Regular monthly meetings with my tutor have helped me stay on track with my learning, while my line manager consistently offers guidance and support, ensuring I can balance my studies alongside my role.
“[Employer hidden] has provided the time, flexibility and encouragement needed to fully engage with the apprenticeship. I’ve been supported to be proactive in my role and involved in projects that align with the trust’s wider mission and strategic goals, allowing me to put theory into practice and develop my skills in a real and meaningful way.”
#### What impact did your apprenticeship training have on your current job role?
“The Senior People Professional Apprenticeship has enabled me to take a more strategic approach when providing HR support to schools. It has strengthened my ability to assess the risks, benefits and opportunities associated with people decisions and reinforced the importance of considering the wider impact of even small choices, from EDI (Equality, Diversity and Inclusion) implications to school engagement and culture.”
#### What advice would you give to someone considering an apprenticeship?
“My mantra for my apprenticeship has been ‘Learn, Reflect, Grow’. Treat everything you do as a learning opportunity, take continuous moments for reflection, and grow as a result – both professionally and personally.”
