Madihah Ali – Apprentice Stories

#### Madihah completed a Postgraduate Teaching Apprenticeship at The Olive School, Blackburn. We asked her to reflect on her apprenticeship journey and how this has shaped her career.

#### Why did you decide to commence an apprenticeship?

I worked at [Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] for five years as a learning coach and wanted to progress in my career. The next step for me was to fulfil my childhood dream of becoming a teacher. I had previously taken the apprenticeship route during my studies and knew this best suited me to begin my teaching career.

#### What kind of support did you receive from your tutor and colleagues?

My tutor and colleagues were very helpful and supportive. They offered me guidance and ensured that I reached my maximum potential, providing coaching and learning opportunities to help me flourish in the classroom.

#### How did [Employer hidden] support you to learn and develop your skills?

[Employer hidden] provides a programme that is well designed and backed by up-to-date research, both in and out of the classroom. They also offer a network of support and training, including professional development so you can hone and develop your skills. They are an outstanding multi-academy trust and provide extensive professional development opportunities to their staff.

#### What impact did your apprenticeship training have on your current job role/career?

The apprenticeship helped me to attain my dream job at my current school. I am able to use the knowledge and skills taught on the course in the classroom on a daily basis. The children in my class are making great progress and this is down to the high-quality training I received during my apprenticeship.

#### What advice would you give to someone who’s considering an apprenticeship?

Go for it! Take that leap of faith in yourself, you can do it if you really believe in yourself. My only regret is not completing my apprenticeship earlier, but it’s never too late to pursue your dreams and make them a reality.
