Fractional Chief Financial Officer

Fractional Chief Financial Officer Contract Type: Fractional (1–2 days per week, Outside IR35) Location: Warwickshire, South of Birmingham – Hybrid (1-2 days per week in the office) Start Date: ASAP Day Rate: Competitive in line with the market An investor-backed (family office) buy-and-build group operating in the services sector. The group currently comprises two trading businesses, with under 100 employees and sub-£10m turnover. Having completed initial acquisitions, the business is now focused on integration and organic growth, with a clear ambition to continue building out the platform over time. This is an opportunity to support a hands-on Managing Director and leadership team in shaping a scalable and effective finance function. This is a high-impact fractional role, ideal for a commercially minded CFO who enjoys working in SME environments and driving tangible improvements in finance operations. Key Responsibilities - Own and enhance the monthly management accounting process, delivering accurate and insightful reporting. - Develop and maintain a robust 3-month rolling cashflow forecast for the group. - Conduct a full diagnostic review of the finance function across both sites. - Design and implement an improved finance structure aligned to business needs. - Drive process improvements, including systems, automation, and reporting efficiency. - Provide financial insight and support to the Managing Director to aid decision-making. - Support ongoing integration of the group’s operating businesses. To Be Suitable - Proven experience in PE-backed buy-and-build environments, ideally within business services. - Strong M&A and post-acquisition integration experience (preferred). - Excellent technical skills, particularly in financial modelling and forecasting. - Experience implementing systems, improving processes, and leveraging automation/AI. - Background working within SME businesses (sub-£20m turnover). - Hands-on and pragmatic approach, comfortable operating at both strategic and operational levels.
