About The Role

Location: Landor Street, Birmingham

This is a full-time, permanent role offering a basic 45‑hour working week.

  • Salary £29,455.24 per annum
  • Overtime: Paid at time and a half Sunday & Bank Holiday rate is double time

Shift Patterns Morning Shift: Monday–Friday: 5:30 am – 2:00 pm Saturday: 6:00 am – 2:00 pm Afternoon Shift: Monday–Friday: 12:00 pm - 21:00 pm

About the role

What will I be doing? In this role, you will operate a counterbalance forklift truck (FLT) to feed raw materials into the production process and load out sorted bales of recovered material. You’ll play an essential part in the day‑to‑day recycling operations at customer sites across Birmingham region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate production equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Carry out quality sampling checks to maintain high standards.
  • Assist with resolving plant stoppages or blockages.
  • Complete housekeeping duties in line with 5S lean principles.
  • Work under the direction of the Team Leader to support daily site operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, health & safety requirements, and company policies.
  • Work closely with customers to maximise reduce, reuse, and recycle initiatives.
  • Manage container exchanges by booking loads with the appropriate contact, ensuring the site always has adequate space for segregating and storing materials.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organised working environment.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties within the scope of the role.

What are the requirements?

Essential

  • A valid counterbalance FLT licence.
  • Willingness to operate additional mobile plant as required.
  • A strong team player with a positive, enthusiastic attitude.
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Flexibility to cover holiday and sickness when needed.
  • A safety‑conscious mindset and a desire to support continuous improvement.

Desirable

  • Experience in the waste industry or other high‑volume production environments (training will be provided if you’re new to the sector).
