FULL DESCRIPTION

A well-established, Claims Management and loss adjusting business is looking to appoint a Chartered Building Surveyor into its growing Surveying Services division. With over 25 years in the market and a strong reputation for technical excellence across domestic and commercial claims, this is a chance to join a high-performing team handling complex and varied work.

Chartered Building Surveyor

You’ll play a key role in assessing property damage, producing detailed reports, and supporting the end-to-end claims process. This position offers a strong mix of technical surveying, stakeholder engagement, and project oversight.

The role

  • You’ll be responsible for carrying out site inspections, assessing damage, and producing accurate scopes and costings.
  • You’ll work closely with adjusters, handlers, and policyholders to ensure claims are managed fairly and efficiently.
  • Conduct on-site surveys and inspections across domestic and commercial properties
  • Assess damage, analyse findings, and prepare repair scopes and cost estimates
  • Produce detailed reports, schedules of work, and tender documentation
  • Manage pre- and post-contract duties, including tender analysis
  • Investigate cause of damage and support liability considerations
  • Act as Principal Designer under CDM Regulations and Party Wall Surveyor where required
  • Support negotiations and validate contractor costs and third-party schedules
  • Provide technical guidance throughout the claims lifecycle
  • Maintain accurate records and support any legal proceedings if required

What they’re looking for

  • Experience as a Building Surveyor, ideally within insurance or loss adjusting
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and repair techniques
  • Experience across both residential and commercial property
  • Ability to interpret insurance policies and claims processes
  • Strong reporting skills with attention to detail
  • Comfortable managing multiple cases independently
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • MRICS, MCIOB or similar (or working towards – APC support considered)
  • Full UK driving licence
