Job Description:
We are recruiting a Senior Asset Stock Condition Surveyor to play a leading role in safeguarding and improving our Housing Revenue Account (HRA) housing stock for a local authority on a initial 3 month contract.
About the Role As Senior Asset & Compliance Surveyor, you will be responsible for monitoring, assessing, and enforcing property- and asset-related regulatory standards across the Council’s HRA housing portfolio. Your core responsibilities will include:
- Undertaking comprehensive stock condition surveys and inspections
- Identifying hazards and assessing risks in line with the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS)
- Ensuring compliance with statutory housing standards, including Decent Homes Standard
- Assessing component lifecycle requirements and planning asset investment needs
- Leading project work relating to stock condition, regulatory compliance, and asset improvement
- Providing technical guidance and oversight to Area Surveyors, Repairs Surveyors, and wider asset management colleagues
- Supporting strategic asset planning to ensure long-term sustainability of the housing portfolio
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- Significant experience in housing asset management or property surveying
- Proven experience undertaking stock condition surveys and compliance inspections
- Strong working knowledge of HHSRS and Decent Homes requirements
- Experience assessing building components and lifecycle planning
- Ability to lead technical projects and provide professional advice
- Excellent analytical, reporting, and communication skills
- A relevant professional qualification (e.g., RICS, CIOB or equivalent experience)
- You will be proactive, solutions-focused, and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
