FULL DESCRIPTION

As a 1st Line IT Technician, you will support all aspects of IT Technology for end users and computers. Working closely with the Global Manager, IT Operations and the wider IT team, you will play an active role in operational activities to help shape and deliver an effective and responsive IT service. Please note that this is a full-time onsite role based at Alderley Park, Cheshire, with occasional support required at our Tytherington, Cheshire site.

As a 1st Line IT Technician, you will support all aspects of IT Technology for end users and computers. Working closely with the Global Manager, IT Operations and the wider IT team, you will play an active role in operational activities to help shape and deliver an effective and responsive IT service. Please note that this is a full-time onsite role based at Alderley Park, Cheshire, with occasional support required at our Tytherington, Cheshire site.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide general end user and computer support across scientific and business areas.
  • Support new starter onboarding and leavers offboarding including full IT provision and inductions.
  • Conduct rigorous troubleshooting and diagnosis for system issues, implementing effective solutions to maintain operational continuity.
  • Oversee and manage users, computers, and groups in Active Director (AD) and Microsoft 365 to ensure secure and efficient access control.
  • Support the installation and maintenance of computer hardware and associated peripherals.
  • Implementation of Access Controls, folder creation and management in Egnyte and other file stores.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Technical training with certification, or relevant experience in IT Technology is required.
  • Broad IT experience of managing and supporting users and computers in a business setting, Active Directory, Office 365 and a range of operating systems and applications.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft and Linux operating systems.
  • Awareness of IT and Data Security requirements and best practices.
  • Strong prioritisation, analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • CompTIA Core Skill (or similar) qualifications are desirable.
