Job Introduction
We are currently looking for a Commercial Analyst to join our finance team based in Colchester. In this role you’ll be a key business partner supporting both the regional and area teams to deliver their commercial objectives and provide insight to the region to assist in decision making and delivery of results. The successful candidate will also participate in regular review of volumes and pricing across the regional aggregates, asphalt and ready-mix businesses to support the implementation of pricing strategies through the maintenance of the “prompt pricing” tool.
Role Responsibility
In this role you will be responsible for a number of tasks including:
- Supporting the regional and area management teams in their commercial strategy development and planning to meet customer and market demands
- Working with the regional head of finance and area directors to understand and drive improvements in commercial performance to exceed budgetary targets
- Providing standardised and insightful reporting to interpret business performance commercial data
- Tracking key variances and developing appropriate measures to ensure results are delivered
- Producing business planning and reporting cycles, updating and maintaining commercial forecasts, budgets and strategic models and templates as required
- Identifying trends and areas for improvement to deliver against targets and budgets
- Producing and circulating the daily sales analysis and supporting routine and ad hoc analysis
- Contributing to national initiatives and projects as required
- Supporting local execution of excellence programmes and continuous improvement programmes and the sharing of best practice across Tarmac
- Ensuring compliance to group policies, processes, procedures and tools for effectiveness, efficiency and compliance with SOx requirements
- Maintaining and updating prompt pricing tools to support pricing controls across the various businesses and report on key issues, risks and variances
- Monitoring and reporting on customer margin and volumes.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have an analytical background, with relevant technical skills and understanding. You’ll have proven analytical and/or accounting experience in a large multi site, construction or manufacturing business. A demonstrable understanding of the aggregates, asphalt and ready-mix organisations and business dynamics, controls and processes would also be an advantage. A practical knowledge of modelling and reporting tools such as SAP, Anaplan, Excel would be beneficial.
