General Operative

We are looking for a GeneralOperative to join the team at our Harper Lane Aggregates and Asphalt site in Hertfordshire. Within this role you will work on the day-to-day operations driving mobile plant and other site duties, you will work with the team to the site plan, ensuring that all stocks are maintained and replenished in good time along with working to keep housekeeping around site to a high standard.

Main Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Operations manager the responsibilities of the GeneralOperative will include (not exhaustive):

• Operating Mobile Plant on site
• Working with other members of the team to ensure that customers get good quality material and on-time deliveries
• Assist the Supervisor with meeting daily/weekly production targets
• Follow SHE policies and procedures
• Ensure Plant conforms with safety requirements at all times
• Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality responsibilities
• Inspections on the plant and acting on defects and implement remedial action
• Ensure that plant availability is maximised
• Working to keep housekeeping around site to a high standard

This position requires complete flexibility and adaptability which are key to this role, with overtime available to meet with the sites production requirements as the site works on 24/7 operational activity

Please note this role requires shift working over two shifts. The first shift is two weeks of day shifts starting at 6am and finishing at 3:30pm with the second shift being two weeks of night shifts starting at 7pm and finishing at 4am**

The Ideal Candidate

To succeed in the role of a GeneralOperative the following is what we are looking for in a future colleague:

• Knowledge of Aggregate / Asphalt / Readymix / RMX Operations or experience working in an industrial manufacturing environment would prove highly beneficial
• Previous experience in mobile and plant operations - highly desirable
• Shovel License – highly desirable
• Good Timekeeping – flexible as to the sites quarrying requirements
• Good Communication skills – bringing problems to the attention of Line Management
• IT Literate

Full UK manual car Driving Licence with no more than 6 penalty points

Previous experience as a General Operative working in a Plant / Quarry / Heavy / Industrial Manufacturing environment would prove highly beneficial; but this is not essential as training will be given to the right candidate.

The role is based at [Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] Harper Lane Aggregate and Asphalt plant, which is located close to Radlett in Hertfordshire.  The site is easily accessible from St Albans, Watford, Potters Bar, Abbots Langley, Hemel Hempstead, Tyttenhanger, Abbotts Langley, Rickmansworth, Stanmore, Hatfield, Chorley Wood, Borehamwood and the surrounding areas.
